Centre for Sustainable Watersheds' Staff

Bob Sneyd, President

Bob SneydOver the last 30 years Bob has been involved as a volunteer with pro-active, lake-based environmental organizations in eastern Ontario. Eight years ago he co-founded the Centre for Sustainable Watersheds (CSW), with its main office in Portland-on-the-Rideau. Reaching beyond the regional level, CSW soon became a recognized leader in developing cooperative initiatives to preserve water quality of lakes and rivers nationwide by working the gaps between community and government organizations. Its charitable arm has become known as The Water Trust.

In the past, Bob has spearheaded the development of water, wildlife and habitat monitoring; shoreline studies and lake-wetland inventories; provincially significant bass and lake trout displacement and tracking research on Rideau Lake. He has also had a hand in pioneering alternative wastewater technologies.

As all of this work over the years has involved hundreds of staff, a wide range of funding supports and job creation initiatives have been developed and engaged. Success has also relied on building effective partnerships among community, private and public sectors. CSW, with Bob’s help, continues to seek innovative and collaborative ways to protect water quality in our lakes and rivers across Canada.

Kim Goodman, Executive Director

Kim GoodmanA native of northern Ontario, Kim attended school in Sault Ste Marie where she studied natural resources. Kim’s first position in the environmental sector was acting as Project Coordinator with the Northern Environmental Heritage Institute at Cambrian College. Kim first gained interest in water resource protection by working on projects such as the Ontario Elk Reintroduction Project and participating in nuisance bear control for the city of Sudbury.

Relocating to eastern Ontario, she pursued this focus with the Centre for Sustainable Watersheds (CSW). She began her career in CSW by focusing on Outreach and Education and slowly moved through the organization gaining experience in each of its core activity areas. She has had her hand in Water Connections, Watersheds InfoXchange, Living by Water and the Water Trust. In her more than five years with CSW she has: provided training to municipalities, First Nations and community groups in shoreline protect programs; managed projects from the regional level to the national level; successfully raised more than a million dollars in cash and in-kind support; and has presented in several conferences and events across the country.

Kim is passionate about her chosen field of work, and will continue to support her team in CSW in finding solutions for the protection of Canada’s water.
