The Green Source is a searchable database and guide prepared and updated annually by Environment Canada to help groups locate funding for environmental projects.

EcoAction - Environment Canada's EcoAction Community Funding Program provides financial support to community groups for projects that have measurable, positive impacts on the environment.

The Ontario Trillium Foundation makes strategic investments to build healthy communities in Ontario. Grants are awarded to fund capital, operating, or specific project costs in support of the environment and other areas of interest.

Ministry of Natural Resources' Community Fisheries and Wildlife Involvement Program (CFWIP) - provides financial help, expertise, equipment and materials for approved projects that will improve fish and wildlife habitat.

The Helen McCrea Peacock Foundation supports environmental organizations whose work has a positive impact on the environment and are carrying out initiatives in Ontario.

Mountain Equipment Co-op sets aside a percentage of the previous years funds to contribute to Canadian-based environmental and conservation and wilderness protection projects, research, and education.

Rideau Valley Rural Clean Water Program - Numerous conservation authorities across Ontario offer financial incentives to farmers and rural property owners to undertake projects that protect and improve water quality in their watersheds. Contact your local conservation authority.

The Salamander Foundation is primarily concerned with supporting projects designed to reduce and prevent pollution. Grants are generally administered in Ontario, however the foundation also considers initiatives in other regions of Canada.

Toronto Dominion Friends of the Environment Foundation supports the efforts of Canadians who are dedicated to the well-being of the environment.

The Ontario Wetland Habitat Fund was created to support and encourage private landowners in Ontario to conserve and enhance wetland habitat for wildlife. Funding and advice is available for private landowners who want to restore, enhance and protect wetlands on their properties.

Wildlife Habitat Canada provides financial assistance for wildlife habitat conservation programs across Canada.

The City of Ottawa's Rural Clean Water Program offers financial support and technical assistance for projects aiming to improve water quality in local rivers, streams, and creeks by reducing pollution and stormwater runoff.

The City of Ottawa's Green Acres Rural Reforestaton Program offers financial and technical assistance to rural landowners for the planning, planting and maintainence of small woodlands.

In Kind Canada is a national program that was developed to facilitate and simplify interaction between donors and charities and to help build and support the capacity of the non-profit sector.

The Sustainability Network provides numerous resources to environmental NGOs as well as financial assistance for specific capacity challenges through a training bursary program.

Training

Charity Village provides a list of some of the educational institutions across Canada offering fundraising courses and training.

St. Lawrence College in Kingston, Ontario has a fundraising program designed for individuals working in the non-profit sector.

Algonquin College in Ottawa, Ontario offers the National Program in Fundraising Education Certificate as an off-campus correspondence course. It is possible to register for the whole program or individual courses, depending on your needs.

The Foundation Centre offers a short course in proposal writing for non-profit organizations.
