Welcome!

It’s all about the water in our lakes and rivers! Who should be concerned?

What can be done to maintain this priceless resource? How can we find sustainable ways to work together across this vast country, which sorely lacks a cohesive and holistic approach to deal with the issues?

Welcome to Centre for Sustainable Watersheds (CSW)! We are committed to offering fresh ways to meet the challenges of engaging and helping people across the country.

It is surely grassroots community groups that can make all the difference when it comes to championing water quality in Canada’s lakes. We are dedicated to building support for those volunteer-based organizations which provide critical leadership among the diversity of recreational users, who know and love their waterways best.

Current and growing challenges threaten the sustainability of those beloved aquatic environments. Yet typically, despite the best intentions and motivation of dedicated volunteers, they lack the help that is essential to long term success:

  • tracking, reporting, accounting and evaluating their project work

  • seeking out financial assistance for overhead costs, resources and materials

  • securing summer students, interns, staff and expertise to support their volunteers

  • accessing and sharing vital water information

  • engaging residents, boaters, campers, anglers and others who share their lakes

Centre for Sustainable Watersheds acts as a catalyst in these kinds of activities. Read on and see some of the ways that, with our partners, we have lent a helping hand to groups in various parts of Canada over the past year.

The groundwork for another busy season is underway. We welcome your participation and support in the months to come!
